  • Work requires educational development acquired by National Certification and National Registration by National Board of Respiratory Care and Illinois State Licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
  • Graduate of AMA approved school with two year or four year program.
  • Three to six months orientation to learn department procedures and equipment, monitor and evaluate patients and diagnostic reports, determine methods of therapy, and to work with all types of patients.
  • Analytical ability is required to interpret test results with test evaluation skills. Also, the therapist must have the communication skills to interact with the physician to discuss the tests when appropriate.

Under general supervision and in accordance with established procedures initiates and administers EKGs, Arterial Blood Gas Analysis, Stress Tests, Holter Monitor Scanning to patients as ordered by physicians. Assesses patient’s conditions according to established standard; using principles essential to infants, pediatrics, adolescents and adult patients.
